RISE Curriculum Director Description

RISE seeks to fill a new Curriculum Director position within our team. Our new Curriculum Director will work closely with the RISE executive director, program director, and the evaluation and assessment director to develop content and guide our community in developing innovation competencies. The RISE Curriculum Director is open-minded, excited about new possibilities, eager to challenge existing modalities, and recognizes and manages their own tendencies and assumptions. The Curriculum Director is also able to work with others in a collaborative and interdisciplinary atmosphere to network outside their existing context. The Curriculum Director is a 25% FTE position with the primary responsibility of overseeing the health science education innovation (HSEI) development curriculum of both our funded innovators and the larger HSEI Community of Practice.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop content, create active learning activities, and identify speakers for the innovation development programming (e.g., large group sessions for the HSEI Community of Practice, workshops for funded innovators, HSEI symposium).
  • Provide direction and support to funded innovators to develop innovation competency, teams and networks, and idea progression.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Pursue and build relationships, networks, and partnerships for innovation within Michigan Medicine and beyond.
  • Generate ideas and contribute to RISE research and scholarship.
  • Identify and execute ways to engage the larger Community of Practice in education innovation activities.


  • Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level (M.D., D.O., Ph.D.) within a Michigan Medicine department.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and delivery methods.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, presentation, and public speaking skills.
