Innovating Education For Better Health

We need innovation in health sciences education to better meet the challenges facing health care.
Our usual improvement work is limited by real and perceived constraints, and it often fails to move the needle in addressing the strategic priorities of our institution as well as the larger needs of society. Health science education innovation has the potential to translate a scalable education intervention into a simulated, applied, or real-world setting to transform existing science, health, or healthcare delivery.
Michigan Medicine is well positioned to lead these activities and build a diverse, inclusive Community of Practice. As a leading academic medical center, we have the freedom and opportunity to explore dramatically different ways of teaching and learning across the spectrum of medical and graduate education programs.
Our Community of Practice is built on three key elements: the development of people, convening of individuals and community in purposeful projects and activities, and deliberate cultivation of an innovation culture.
